Pima Association of Governments manages travel demand through its Travel Reduction Program, which provides area employers with the resources and tools to encourage employees to use alternative transportation, such as carpooling, vanpooling or taking transit, to help reduce traffic congestion, energy consumption and pollution.
Employers with 100 or more full-time equivalent employees are required to participate in the program. Other employers may volunteer to participate. PAG promotes travel reduction through its Sun Rideshare program, a free commuter assistance program. When workers have good transportation options, businesses have a more productive, stable and reliable workforce.
Sun Rideshare helps people find affordable, reliable and convenient transportation to the workplace and other destinations. The many free services offered by Sun Rideshare allow people to review all their transportation options and make educated choices for their commute.
PAG recognizes that alternative transportation is a key component of the region’s economy because transit, carpooling, vanpooling, biking and walking provide more options to access jobs, schools, community services, recreational activities, healthcare and shopping.
